The weather of Kanatal remains salubrious and pleasing all through the year apart from the winter season when it can get too cold for comfort. The summer season from March to May is pleasant offering a typical Hill resort climate with maximum temperatures reaching thirty degrees Celsius. The monsoon months from July to September bring adequate rainfall making the resort pleasantly chilly and windy. Winters in Kanatal run through the months of November to February with minimum temperatures dropping as low as minus fifteen degrees Celsius in some places. Most trekking excursions and temples are closed during the winter season and travel is not advisable.

By Road:

Located on the Mussorie- Chamba National highway, Kanatal is well connected by motor able roads with major destinations in Uttrakhand and northern states of India including New Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Kanatal is connected by buses to other regions of Uttrakhand including Uttarkashi, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Gangotri. Varanasi is located at a distance of 721 Kms from Kanatal while travelling distance between New Delhi and Kanatal is close to 306 Kms.

By Air:

Kanatal does not have an airport facility and the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest domestic airport. Located at a distance of 924 Kms from Garhwal, the airport is well connected to all major Indian cities with regular flights from New Delhi and Mumbai. Taxis are easily available to visit Kantal from the Dehradun airport.

By Rail:

Kanatal does not have a dedicated railway station and the adjoining railhead to Kanatal is Rishikesh and Dehradun situated at a distance of 75 kms and 85 Kms respectively. Both Dehradun and Rishikesh are well connected by railway networks with major cities of India. Buses and Taxis to Kanatal and nearby regions of Garhwal and Chamba are easily available from Rishikesh and Dehradun railway stations.
