Mount Abu experiences considerably cool weather conditions owing to its thick forest cover. It is an ideal tourist destination throughout the year. April to June is the summer season, wherein the temperature ranges between 23°C and 33°C notably lower than the average summer temperature of about 44°C in the Rajasthan deserts. The months of November to February are enveloped by chill winters, the minimum and the maximum temperatures being 12°C and 29°C. However, in the coldest winter nights, temperature may fall as low as -8°C. Mount Abu records the maximum rain in Rajasthan, average downpour in the monsoon months of August to September being 70 to 180 centimeters. The best time to visit Mount Abu is during the monsoons when nature is at its beauteous best.

How To Reach

By Road:

Regular tourist buses connect Mount Abu to Jaisalmer, Delhi, Udaipur and Jaipur. There are daily to biweekly buses. Government buses also travel from Mount Abu to the nearby cities.

By Air:

The Dabok airport, which is the closest one to Mount Abu is in Udaipur. This airport is linked to other major airports like Mumbai, Jaipur and Delhi.

By Rail:

Abu Road, the nearest railway station is about 22 kilometers away and lies on the network linking Mumbai and Delhi. This station is linked to major junctions through Mumbai and Delhi. 


Mount Abu is Rajasthan’s sole hill station and is a beautiful destination blessed with a scenic landscape and intricately carved temples. It is also renowned as a Jain pilgrim spot on the Aravalli ranges and got its name from Arbuda, a serpent who believed to be appeared at the hill to rescue Lord Shiva’s bull, Nandi. The place bears immense archaeological significance as it houses many historical mansions, the most famous ones being the Dilwara Jain temples. The world famous Brahma Kumaris University, a center of spiritual education, is situated here.

Going by historical data the Gurjar tribes were the aborigines of Mount Abu and their settlement started in the 6th century within portions of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Mount Abu is an ideal destination for tourists due to its serene landscape and primeval aura. Located above 1220 mtrs from sea level, Mount Abu is surrounded by thick green foliages and is enclosed by a beautiful lake. Mount Abu being a cool respite from the deserts of Rajasthan and witnesses a good rush of tourists down the year. A visit to Rajasthan is in complete without visiting Mount Abu.


There are several world class restaurants and resorts in Mount Abu for a convenient stay of the increasing number of tourists. A majority of the hotels arrange transportation facilities for the tourists for sightseeing. The place also holds many festivals. The camel festival in January, Holi in March and Diwali in October are celebrated with immense pomp and splendor.
