Poovar is blessed with a pleasant tropical climate. Summers (March to May) are hot with temperature soaring upto 36 degree Celsius, but the cool sea breeze is a pleasant respite. June to September is monsoon in Kerala. Rains can at times obstruct your site seeing. Poovar is well connected with Thiruvananthapuram, Kovalam, Vizhinjam and Kollam by road. From Thiruvananthapuram, it takes almost 45 minutes to reach Poovar. Kovalam is 17 kms from here and it takes about 24 mins by road from Poovar. Another tourist spot close to Poovar- Vizhinjam is 15kms towards Kovalam route. The other nearest city- Kollam is about 94 kms from Poovar.

By Air:

The airport closest to Poovar is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Thiruvananthapuram is about 38 kms from Poovar. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is well connected to all major cities in India as well Middle East.

By Rail:

The nearest railway head to Poovar is Thiruvananthapuram. Thiruvananthapuram is connected with all major locations in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Mumbai and Delhi. 

By Water:

From Thiruvananthapuram, it takes almost 15 minutes to Poovar by boat. Water- taxis are available to take a round over the place. House-boats, country boats, canoes and motor boats are also available to reach Poovar and to enjoy round the place.
