Puttaparthi experiences typical tropical climate with dry summers and moderate winter season. The summer season between March and July is warm and sunny with extreme dry heat. The maximum temperature in summers reaches a high of nearly 45 degrees Celsius making it difficult for international tourists. The monsoon season between July and September brings adequate rainfall providing relief from the dry heat but increasing the overall humidity content. The winter season from October to February is much more pleasant and ripe for tourist excursions. The temperature in the winters remains between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius making it one of the best times to visit the holy town of Puttaparthi.

The closest international airport to Puttaparthi town is the one located in Bangalore at a distance of 250 Kms.

By Rail:

Puttaparthi is well connected by rail to all major Indian cities and towns. Sri Satya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam railway station is located at a distance of 8 Kms from the Sathya Sai ashram offering regular train services to Mumbai (Udyan Exp), Bangalore ( Vijaywada-Yeswanthpur Exp), New Delhi  (Rajdhani Exp) and Hyderabad (Kacheguda Exp).


Puttaparthi is a small town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh famous as the home to the spiritual mystic and spiritual teacher Shri Sathya Sai Baba. Located at an elevation of 800 meters above sea level, Puttaparthi is located on the banks of Chitravathi River. Earlier known as Gollapalli, the town of Puttaparthi has carved its niche on the international roadmap due to the spiritual and religious importance provided by the holy Sathya Sai Baba. The ashram of Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi attracts a large number of domestic and international followers.

The birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is celebrated on 23 Nov every year in grand style at the Ashram. The birthday celebrations attract a large number of devotees and pilgrims from all over the world.  A number of bhajan and chanting sessions are conducted on a daily babsis in the ashram. The ashram is now operated by Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and continues to attract a large number of followers even after the demise of Sathya Sai Baba.
