Yelagiri experiences moderate weather conditions throughout the year. Summers, extending from the month of March to June, are pleasant with the average temperature ranging between 18°C and 34°C. Monsoon in Yelagiri starts from July and lasts till September. The entire region receives average rainfall. The winter season begins by the start of November and lasts till February. The climate becomes very cool with a varying temperature range of 11°C to 25°C. Yelagiri is good to visit at anytime. But it is advised to avoid monsoon as sight seeing will be obstructed.

By Road:

KSRTC buses have set up an efficient road network which helps connect Yelagiri with all the adjoining major cities. Regular buses ply between Tiruoathur and Yelagiri. Krishnagiri, Bangalore, Vanayambadi and Chennai are all connected to Yelagiri via bus.

By Air:

The nearest airport is Bangalore Airport, located at a distance of 145 km away from Yelagiri. Bangalore Airport is one of the major airports in India. 

By Rail:

Yelagiri is connected to different railway stations in India via the Jolarpettai Railway Junction, located at a distance of almost 21 km from the town. Yelagiri can be reached from Jolarpettai with a simple cab ride.

The sound of the temple bells breaking the quiet mountain air adds a unique mythological essence to the surrounding environment and helps keep the sensation of life alive even in times of complete silence. Adventure sports such as rock climbing and paragliding are being introduced in the area to promote the hills station.


Yelagiri has become something of a weekend getaway for tourists from Chennai and Bangalore. Yelagiri hills can be reached by travelling through long winding roads through the hills with isolated dwellings and villages on both sides.


There is limited number of shopping options is available like honey, jackfruit and few tribal produces from the local shops. There are many restaurants and eating houses spread across Yelagiri which serve delicious North Indian as well as South Indian food. Prices are quite affordable.
