Tiger Hill:

Tiger Hill is one the most popular tourist attraction of Darjeeling. Located 11 kms from the town at a height of 2555 meters, the view of Kanchenjunga from here is enchanting. Mount Everest can also be seen from here. Tourists go up the Tiger Hills during early morning hours to catch the wonderful views around as well as the beautiful sun rise.


Observatory Hill:

The Observatory Hill with the Mahakal temple and Bhutia Busty Gompa resting on it is of great importance to both Buddhists and Hindus. This scenic hilltop is more important for its harmony between Hinduism and Buddhism. Tourists have been pouring to this spot since several years. The calm and peaceful atmosphere of the place is also very appealing.



This peak which is located 58 kms from Darjeeling is a trekker’s paradise. One can have a stunning view of the four tallest peaks of the country- Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Lhoste from here. Sandakphu is also home to many varieties of orchids and other colourful flowers that fully bloom during spring season to give visual treat to the visitors here.


Passenger Ropeway:

Thisis one of the prime attractions inDarjeeling.Starting at the North Point, it covers 3kms of breathtaking scenery.  It is an enchanting experience to view the lush greenery, slopes and multi-hued flowers of Darjeeling from here.


Buddhist Monasteries:

Darjeeling is home to many serene and beautiful monasteries of great historic importance. TheSakya Monastery in Ghoom is located 8 km from Darjeeling. Bhutia Busty Gompa is in just one kilometer out of Darjeeling. Kanchenjunga provides a spectacular backdrop to this monastery. Aloobari Gomba is located three kilometers away from Darjeeling. The architecture and location of these grand monasteries are very appealing. A mystic aura pervades here providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation or indulging in spiritual activities like meditation.

Rock Garden:

The rock garden is a wonderful picnic spot in Darjeeling. This multi-levelled garden is attractively landscaped and surrounded by many dramatic rock formations. The waterfalls cascading through them and the multi-hued flower gardens make it more attractive.  The small lake surrounding the garden offers boating facilities. You can also dress up here in the local attires to pose for a few clicks. The nearby Ganga Maya Park is also a great spot with boating facilities and the local Gorkha folk dances performances to entertain tourists.


Batashiya Loop:

This wonderful loop in the middle of a spacious garden offers a 360 degree exploration of Darjeeling on a toy train.  Located 5kms from Darjeeling, below Ghoom station, the Batashiya Loop and the garden is the house of many beautiful plants and shrubs. It is an enjoyable ride in the toy train round the town. There is also a war memorial in its centre. The surrounding markets are always crowded with tourists who come to buy handicrafts and souvenirs.

This is an ideal place for animal lovers. The Himalayan Zoo boasts of several rare species of animals and birds.


Himalayan Mountaineering Institute:

Founded by Tenzing Norgay, this spot draws many visitors who come here for the purpose of paying tribute to the man who was the first to conquer Mount Everest along with Sir Edmund Hilary. The institute houses two museums. The mountaineering museum has a large collection of mountaineering equipments and is an ideal place to study about the rare Himalayan flora and fauna. The Everest museum narrates the chronicle of several mountaineers who attempted to to climb the Everest.
