Khardung La Pass: 

Khardung also known as Khardung La is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Leh. Considered to be the gateway to Nubra Valley and Siachen Glacier, Khardung also commonly called Khardung Pass or Khardung La is situated at a distance of 40 Kms from Leh. Located at an elevation of 18379 feet above sea level, Khardung offers a breathtaking view of valleys amid the passing highest motor able road of the world. Khardung La is also widely popular as being the world’s Heights Motor able Pass. Many adventure tourists and travelers visit the Khardung La on various Motorcycling expeditions making it a cherished excursion to be savored for life. The road to Ladakh is a challenging driving experience even for the most experienced of drivers. The road from Leh to Khardung is even more challenging with indifferent weather conditions and no real supplies in case of an emergency. Traffic on the road to Khardung La is regulated by the border Roads Organization to ensure smooth flow without any untoward incidence.



Diskit is a small village located on the edge of the desert near Shyok Valley. Dikshit is an important center for learning for Buddhist monks and solitude seekers housing the ancient Diskit Monastery. Diskit is also an administrative center for the Nubra Valley region having a number of government offices in its vicinity. Diskit village is located at an elevation of 3144 meters above sea level attracting tourists, Buddhist monks and photography enthusiasts virtually all through the year.


Diskit Monastery:  

Diskit Monastery founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo is one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in the Leh region. A sub gompa of the Thikse Gompa, the Diskit Monastery is showcased with picturesque frescos. Diskit Monastery is famous for housing several rare artifacts and colorful images and art of various gods and demons. Dedicated to the Tashilhunpo Gompa of Tibet, a large number of smaller shrines are enclosed within the vicinity of the Diskit Monastery.


Ensa Gompa:  

Ensa Gompa located on the outskirts of Panamik Village in Leh region attracting a large number of tourists and pilgrims alike. Located on top of a rock overlooking the mighty Himalayan peaks, Ensa Gompa is considered to be over 250 years old. Ensa Gomp is famous for its exotic mural Buddhist art work attracting art lovers, spiritual seekers and travelers.


Samstemling Gompa:

Samstemling Gompa is one of the most famous religious landmarks of Nubra Valley. Famous for its rare collection of Buddhist idols and artifacts, the Samstemling Gompa has a communion of seven different Buddhist temples inaugurated by his holiness the Dalai Lama in the early 1960's. Samstemling Gompa attracts a large number of pilgrims and devotees all through the year.


Lachung Temple:  

Lachung Temple is one of the most well known religious temples in Nubra Valley region. Located near the Diksit monastery, the Lachung Temple is famous for housing a picturesque statue of Tsong-kha-pa with its trademark Gelugpa yellow hat crowns attracting tourists, pilgrims and devotees from all over the world.


Hundur Monastery:

Hundur Monastery also known as Hundu Gompa is one of the most well known monasteries in Nubra valley. Located near the bridge on the main road of Nubra valley, Hundur Monastery is easily accessible by road. Located near the Lachung temple, Hundur Monastery attracts spiritual seekers and Buddhist monks from all over the world.



The pristine village of Panamik located at the distance of 150 Kms from Leh is one of best known natural landmarks of the region. Famous for its hot water springs, Panamik is closely located near the Indo Tibetan border. The hot water springs of Panamik attracts a large number of tourists. The picturesque natural landmark of Panamik is a popular picnic hangout.


Yarab Tso Lake:

Yarab Tso Lake also known as the hidden Lake is one of the most important religious landmarks of Nubra valley. Located at a distance of 15 Kms from Diskit region, the Lake offers a picturesque location for nature loves and photography enthusiasts. Yarab Tso Lake due to its religious importance attracts a number of Buddhist monks and spiritual seekers all through the year.
