Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum:

Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum established in 1875 by Raja Mahant Ghasidas of Rajnandgaon is one of the most significant tourist attractions in Raipur. Home to a large collection of rare and antique coins, paintings and sculptures of the region, Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum has five dedicated galleries showcasing the cultural richness of Raipur. The octagonal shaped building o the museum is one of the finest specimens of British style of architecture. Believed to be one of the oldest museums in India, Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum with its unique art, craft and paintings is one of the richest and colorful ancient museums of India. The Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum charges a nominal entrance fee and is widely visited by a large number of tourists, historians and art lovers alike.

 

Doodhadhari Monastery:

Doodhadhari Monastery and Temple is one of the oldest temples of Raipur region attracting a large number of tourists and pilgrims alike. Constructed in the early 17th century, the Doodhadhari Monastery and Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple has a large number of beautiful mural paintings in its interiors showcasing the cultural richness of the region. Doodhadhari Monastery and Temple is one of the most widely visited temples in Raipur.

 

Dhamdha:

Dhamdha region located in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh is one of the most widely visited tourist locations. With its old palatial buildings including the Prachin Kila and Dhamda mandir, the region is famous for its lovely architecture considered to be one of the finest specimens of Hindu architecture.

 

Bhilai Steel Plant:

Bhilai Steel Plant located at a distance of 23 Kms from Raipur city center is the epitome of steel production in India. Famous as being the only Indian steel rail manufacturing unit, the Bhilai Steel Plant is jointly developed by Indian and erstwhile USSR. Tourists can apply for a factory tour of the Bhilai Steel Plant making it one of the best possible excursions in the region.

 

Hajra:

The waterfalls at Hajra are one of the most beautiful geographical landmarks of Raipur. The waterfalls at Hajra drop from a height of 46 meters. Located inside dense forests surrounded by a lineup of trees and lush green valley's, the waterfalls of Hajra are a popular picnic hangout for the locals.

 

Urja Park:

Urja Park located in the Mana road area right at the heart of Raipur city is one of the best tourist landmarks. The park offers residents to spend time closer with nature walking amid the lush green grass and wonderful line of flowers. Urja Park attracts a large number of locals and tourists for morning and evening walks.

 

Banjari Mata Mandir:

Banjari Mata Mandir located near Raipur city center is one of the most significant religious shrines of the region. Built by commoner Harish Joshi who found the idol of Banjari Mata lying on the road, the Banjari Mata Mandir attracts a large number of pilgrims from all across Chhattisgarh.

 

Shadani Darbar:

Shadani Darbar is one of the widely visited religious hotspots of Raipur city. Spreading over an area of 12 acres, Shadani Darbar named after Saint Shadaramji Saheb houses the famous Dhuni Saheb. The interiors of the chambers inside the Shadani Darbar depict colorful paintings and artwork showcasing idols and images of various Gods and goddesses. Shadani Darbar also has a number of fountains and religious idols in its vicinity making it one of the most picturesque locations of Raipur region.

 

Maitri Bagh-Zoo:

Maitri Bagh-Zoo established by the Bhilai Steel Plant is an epitome of India-USSR collaboration. Literally meaning the friendship park, Maitri Bagh-Zoo has a large number of animals and birds attracting children and tourists visiting the city. The parks also have many picturesque locations and lovely musical fountains making it a perfect picnic hotspot. A tall watchtower known as the Pragai Minar offers a panoramic view of the neighboring Bhillai steel plant.

 

Barnawapara Sanctuary:

Barnawapara Sanctuary spreading over an area of 245 sq km is one of the richest wildlife sanctuaries in the region. Home to a wide variety of flora and fauns, the Barnawapara Sanctuary was established in 1976. With an average altitude between 250 to 400 meters above sea level, the Sanctuary is home to some of the rare breeds of animals. Some of the popular animals found in the vicinity include Tigers, leopards, hyenas and porcupine. The sanctuary is home to a large variety of tree lines including sal, teak and bamboo. The sanctuary is also home to sloth bears, flying squirrels making it one of the most diverse wildlife sanctuaries in Chhattisgarh region. Safaris are conducted by the management of the Barnawapara Sanctuary for the visiting tourists.

 

Nagar Ghadi:

Nagar Ghadi or the city clock is one of the most beautiful landmarks of the city of Raipur. Built in 1995 by the Raipur Development Authority, Nagar Ghadi emits sounds of famous Chhattisgarhi folk music every hour before hourly bell chime.
