Zoji-La Pass:

Zoji-La Pass also known as the gateway to Ladakh is one of the most treacherous terrain and dangerous passes of Kashmir region. Located at an elevation of 3465 meters above sea level, Zoji-La Pass remains covered under snow for most of the year. Zoji-La Pass is accessible during late spring season. Zoji-La Pass enclosing the Drass sector is an important military pass for the Indian army.

 

Gangabal Lake:

Gangabal Lake located at an altitude of 3,570 meters above sea level is one of the most famous landmarks of Sonamarg region. Perched on top of the Harmuck Peaks, Gangabal Lake is also known as the Harmukh Ganga. Considered to be the prime source of water to Jhelum River, Gangabal Lake offer a picturesque view amid the snow capped mountains. An annual fair is organized in the middle of August by the Hindu community along the Gangabal Lake.

 

Gadsar Lake:

Gadsar Lake is one of the most beautiful fresh water lakes in the world. Located at an altitude of 5000 meters above sea level, Gadsar Lake is one of the highest altitude lakes of Kashmir. Located amid the dense lineup of Pine trees, Gadsar Lake is a popular fishing location for the tourists. Gadsar Lake also attracts a large number of adventure tourists offering various trekking excursions.

 

Nilagrad River:

Nilagrad is a popular tourist destination famous for being the location of confluence of various mountain rivers forming the Indus. Located at a distance of 6 Kms from Sonamarg city center, the color of the water in Nilagrad is red. Nilagrad River is believed to have medicinal properties and a number of locals believe that taking a holy dip in the river waters can help cure their ailments and diseases.

Vishansar Lake is a popular tourist destination in Sonamarg attracting nature lovers and adventure tourists alike. Located at an elevation of 4084 meters above sea level, Vishansar Lake can be accessed from April to June. Located near the Nichinai Pass, Vishansar Lake offers a pristine panoramic view amid the might Himalayan Peaks making it photogrpahy lovers delight.

 

Thajiwas Glacier:

Thajiwas Glacier is one of the most beautiful locations of Sonamarg capturing the scenic natural beauty of Kashmir at its very best. Located at a distance of 7 Kms from Sonamarg city center, the Thajiwas Glacier attracts nature lovers and adventure tourists alike. Thajiwas Glacier is a popular camping site in Sonamarg. Thajiwas Glacier remains inaccessible during the winter season from October to March.

 

Charari- Sharief Shrine:

Charari- Sharief is a popular Muslim Shrine located at a distant of 13 Kms from Sonamarg. Reconstructed after it was gutted in a fire accident, the Charari- Sharief shrine is believed to be the home of Sheikh Noor-ud-di, the patron saint of the Kashmir valley. Charari- Sharief shrine attracts a large number of pilgrims to offer prayers.

 

Krishnasar Lake:

This lake, located at a height of 3801 m above sea level is one of the most beautiful lakes in Sonamarg. The banks of Krishnasar Lake are surrounded by dense alpines, offering a cool and pleasant atmosphere. The lake is popular for water sports and fishing.
